Hi :)
I’m an award-winning freelance writer and regular contributor to publications including GQ, 1843 Magazine, FT Magazine, Wired and the Guardian.
I specialise in magazine features and long form journalism, and while I am a generalist at heart, I am particularly drawn to stories about people on the fringes and the lives of workers (and if ever the chance to write a good caper comes along…I’m game).
Over the years I’ve hung out with long-distance truckers, a forensic artist, TikTok farmers and trainee butlers. My reporting has taken me into the murky world of male jaw surgery; on a quest to solve an AI art-world mystery; inside the TikTok property hustle; and to the tiny Welsh town where people and horses race each other. I particularly enjoyed piecing together the story of a 15-year quest to find a man named Satoshi, based just on a photograph.
Before committing to full-time writing, I worked as an editor at 1843 magazine, and as a staff reporter at the Guardian. I am also an alumni of the IJP fellowship program.
Since then my work has been been recognised by numerous awards, and has been selected among the editors’ picks at Longreads and The Sunday Long Read.
Recently, my report on the manslaughter trial of a teenage asylum seeker, Ibrahima Bah, won third prize in the Fetisov Journalism Awards, in the contribution to civil rights category. The same piece was a runner up in the Foreign Press Association Awards.
I live in Margate. (For those outside of the UK, consider it a seaside suburb of London.)
